Liberatory Research: Bridging the Gap Between Community Organizing and Research

The North Carolina Black Leadership Organizing Collective (NCBLOC) began in 2015 and is a 10-year process to develop Black-led movement organizations Carolina. Blu Lewis was one of the visionary architects this initiative refers many ways we use research inside organization work towards our goals. Felicia Arriaga joined NCBLOC as network coordinator for NC BLOC’s projects called Statewide Police Accountability Network 2019, moved into supporting cross organizing within BLOC, now Development Manager BLOC. We dive discussion about strategies, how can redefine validation, pair with narratives that represent communities, values align research, combat white supremacy culture shows up practices.
